Apparently there is also Lightweight Tent trailer, I just know, it seems better suited to bring our "house" during the holidays

Scott,

We have another article that addresses home-built campers, Build a Camping Trailer. The site you've mentioned has some interesting ideas as well.

A good addition to your article would be the rebirth of home-built tent trailers. Check out the tent topped camping trailer designs of compactcampingconcepts.com .

Lee - It sounds like you had a great time in your family's Ted Williams Camper!

My family had a Ted Williams tent trailer in the mid 60's. It was a red box and the roof folded 180 degrees over like a shell to become the hard floor.
Two staggered bunks were then raised up and the tent frames extended. The canvas was blue, the trailer was red with a white arrow on each side.
The trailer had no other amenities and rode smoothly on 8" tires.
We used it for many weekend trips to area lakes and I'd wager there is one remaining in a collection somewhere today.

Hi Ron - Thanks for your comment. I did a bit of research and didn't come up with much. I found mention of Sears making camper shells and marketing them under the Allstate brand name during the 1950s and 1960s in the Sears Archives, but I wasn't able to locate any photos. If I come across more information, I'll post an update.

hi there, I have a couple of old tent trailers that you probably have heard little about or have little or no information for. They are 1962 Sears Ted Williams Signature tent trailers. I can't even find information or a photo anywhere pertaining to them.
