It is really difficult to have such a list because new cars come out every year. I haven't found a list anywhere but if there is one, maybe someone can let us know. Your best bet is to make a list of cars you are interested in and contact the manufacturers to see if they can be flat towed.

Yes, Jeeps are designed to be flat towed. Put the four-wheel-drive and transmission into neutral and you're ready to go.

We do not have a list. It would be too difficult to keep such a list up to date. There is a link in the article to a PDF list from the Ford Motor Company. Other manufacturers may have similar lists.

This is also dependent on the specific motorhome that you have.

Your best bet is to contact the manufacturers of the vehicles. In most cases, if a car can be flat towed, it will say so in the owners manual under "Recreational Towing".

Rex, you most likely will not be allowed to tow a rental car. You would need to discuss this will the rental car companies but I am fairly certain that most will not allow this.

You would both need to contact the manufacturer for specifics on particular makes and models. The tips in the article above will also give you some good ideas on how to proceed. I am not find reference materials specifically for Chevy vehicles. However, the Dinghy Towing Guide mentioned earlier might be helpful to both of you.

Danny - It's best to check with the manufacturer of your car before trying to flat tow. Contact your local Toyota dealership and ask. Make sure to specify the year and whether or not it is an automatic or manual transmission.

Billy - The 2005 Suzuki Forenza isn't listed in Motorhome Magazine's dinghy towing guice, so I am not sure. Typically, automatic transmission vehicles are not recommended for flat towing. I would suggest checking with the manufacturer or the dealership where you bought the car for a definitive answer.

Josh - According to Motor Home Magazine's 2005 Dinghy Towing Guide,the 2005 Nissa Altima 2.5 manual transmission is safe for flat towing behind an RV.

Charles - Make sure the manufacturer rates the car as being safe for this purpose. People often flat tow cars using vehicles that are not rated appropriately, and this is not a safe practice. In my experience, it seems that cars with automatic transmissions are not generally recommended for flat towing,

According to the 2003 Motorhome Magazine towing guide, this car should not be flat towed. Manual transmission models can be flat towed, but the automatics should not be towed in this manner.

Tom - I can't find any information that verifies that flat towing a Highlander is acceptable. If you want to be sure, contact your local Toyota dealer. The best resource for finding out which cars are safe for towing is Motorhome Magazine's towing guide.

Hi Jack - According to Motorhome Magazine's towing guide, the manual 2006 Hyundai Tucson is suitable for flat towing, but the automatic is not. It is likely that this is also true for 2008 models. It is not recommended to flat tow any vehicle unless it is rated by the manufacturer as safe for doing so.
