Ohio State Parks
Ohio has 56 state parks for your camping enjoyment. Many of them are open year-round although some may have limited facilities in the winter. You can conveniently make reservations up to six months in advance online, but reservations are not required to enjoy the beautiful campsites of Ohio’s state parks.
Stay at your chosen site for up to 14 days with up to six people per site. You can even bring your pet—two pets per site are allowed—as long as you keep him on a leash at all times. Ice and firewood are available at all state park campgrounds and you can choose a site offering full-service electric, sewer and water or a premium site which may be waterfront or it may offer other special amenities depending on the park.
Rates are reasonable to camp in Ohio state parks, ranging from $15 to $35 with winter rates being $2 less per night. Group rates are also available.
For a truly unique camping experience, try renting a tepee at Beaver Creek. Canvas tepees sleep eight people and include the following:
- Cooler
- Lantern
- Two air mattresses
- Propane camp stove
Modern latrines are centrally located, but there are no showers and pets are not permitted. Rates for tepees in Beaver Creek are $30 per night.

KOA Camping in Ohio
Ohio has eight KOA campgrounds with fantastic amenities for the whole family. Camping at KOA campgrounds will provide you with clean restrooms and showers as well as activities like miniature golf, fishing, boating and swimming. In addition, some KOAs offer Kamp Kitchens and high-speed internet. Each individual KOA will offer different activities and planned events so that you can enjoy a fun-filled vacation without ever leaving the campground.
Rates for a KOA campsite in Ohio will vary, but as an example; a family of two adults and two children traveling with a pet can enjoy a tent camping site with water and electric for an average of $41 per night. While this is a bit more that a campsite in a state park, the abundance of activities and amenities makes the price an incredible bargain.

Jellystone Park has 425 sites with electric for tents or motor homes, and when you reserve four nights you get a fifth night free. A tent camping site at Jellystone Park for two adults and two children will run about $49 per night on weekends and $47 per night on weekdays. There are often specials available to save you money as well, but the regular rates are an awesome deal for such an incredible vacation.
