Background of Safari Motor Homes

Safari started manufacturing motor homes in 1986. The Oregon-based company began with the mission of building high performance, full-featured motor homes that provide exceptional value. The company's motor coaches quickly became very popular among RV enthusiasts, and the organization has evolved into one of the leading motor home manufacturers.

Today, Safari is part of one of the largest and most diverse recreational vehicle companies in the world. In 2001, the company merged with Monaco Coach Corporation, another Oregon-based RV manufacturer. Five years prior to the merger, Monaco purchased Holiday Rambler.

  • Simba: You can choose from diesel or gasoline Simba models. The new diesel model features a Caterpillar engine along with an Allison transmission, with a list price starting at $166,000. Gasoline Simbas start at just under $95,000.
  • Trek: Designed with the needs of weekend travelers in mind, Safari's Trek model is a smaller version of its top of the line class A coach. Pricing for new models is available for dealers.
  • Passage: Billed as an entry level motor home, the Passage model offers affordable luxury sure to appeal to those new to the RV lifestyle. Contact your local dealer for pricing details.
  • Ivory: This large cab over camper is designed with space in mind. It features a significant amount of storage, along with travel and sleeping space for large families. Contact your dealer to find out just how affordable this spacious Safari camper can be.
  • Damara B-Plus: This model represents the standard for luxury in class B motor homes. You can choose among several different floor plans, and offers many amenities and a roomy interior. The Safari dealers in your area will be able to provide pricing information.
  • Damara Sport and Touring: These small motor homes are compact, class B, RVs that are fun and easy to drive, yet still offer space and comfort. The best way to get pricing is to contact your local dealer.

Thinking about buying a 1999 Safari American Explorer Kalahari Edition w/chev 6.5 L Turbo deisel and 4L80 trans. Can anyone tell me about them?
