Kings Island Campground
From LoveToKnow Camping
While there is no campground specifically called Kings Island Campground, Morgan’s Riverside Campground and Cabins at Fort Ancient is the closest thing. This campground is within a 10 minute drive of the Kings Island amusement park and is endorsed on the park’s website.
Campground Location
More specifically, this Kings Island campground is at 6262 Gilmour Road in Morrow, Ohio. Those searching for directions online or by GPS should put in the zip code 45152. It is located off of the Ohio Route 123 exit of Interstate 71, which is exit number 32. To get there, drivers should take Route 123 toward Morrow and make a left at Gilmour Road.
Amenities
One major draw of this campground, besides its vicinity to Kings Island, is that it is near the Little Miami and National Scenic Rivers. Campers can go swimming, tubing, kayaking and canoeing in the water during their vacation. Kayaks, canoes and tubes are all available for rental on site and there is a ramp available from which people can start their adventures.
Other amenities are few compared to most tourist area campgrounds. They include:
- Bath houses with hot showers
- Picnic tables and fire rings at each site
- Camp store with firewood
- Volleyball court
- Basketball court
Accommodations
While many campgrounds have large RV parks in them, this is not one of them. Its sites will accommodate pop up campers and other small vehicles. There is no room for substantial RVs. In addition, water and electric hookups are not provided and generators are not permitted.
Campers can stay in a variety of primitive tent sites, including riverfront sites and group sites. Large group sites can accommodate up to 15 tents comfortably. All sites include parking spaces. There are approximately 65 sites for rent.
There are also four one-room cabins available for rental. These are not luxury cabins by any means. They do not have running water or electricity. They do include:
- Sleeping areas for up to four adults (loft bed, bunk bed and double bed)
- Picnic tables
- Charcoal grills
- Hammocks
- Porch swings or Adirondack chairs
- Fire rings
All cabins are located along the waterfront near the Little Miami Bike Trail. They are on the opposite side of the river from most of the tent sites.
